The PLD300’s main function is to split the signal from one source unit to as many as three amplifiers with no signal loss. “Today’s consumers often rely on Y-adaptors to connect multiple amplifiers,” explains Pastor. “However, this method results in weaker signal voltage power by the time the signal reaches the amplifier. The PLD300 remedies this by correctly dividing the source’s voltage and giving users the option to increase the voltage up to 8 volts per output.” Regin Pastor has been the Alphasonik Product Manager for three years and testing procedures for 2006 products challenged him to analyze the PLD300’s actual functionality in various applications. “I found that, when using the PLD300, amplifiers have more output because they’re not starving for input voltage.” This line driver features a frequency response ranging between 10Hz and 50kHz at 1dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of >100dB. Measuring in at only 9-inches wide, 3-inches long and 1 inch tall, users can install this processor virtually anywhere. Its black chassis and removable beveled clear acrylic protective control cover give the PLD300 a refined and unobtrusive look to blend smoothly into any install. “The PLD300 is a very important device because of its overall functionality in relation to source units and amplifiers,” says Pastor. “Consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice their sound quality for any reason. Adding a line driver like the PLD300 is a simple and convenient processor that will enhance any installation environment.” Alphasonik’s PLD300 8-volt line driver carries a target retail price of $199.99.
